This walk in upper Piedmont was 1.6 miles and had 482 steps. It was quite steep at times but rewarded us with marvelous views of the Bay. We strolled past stately craftsmen homes and even the former home of writer Jack London.

This walk in upper Piedmont was 1.6 miles and had 482 steps. It was quite steep at times but rewarded us with marvelous views of the Bay. We strolled past stately craftsmen homes and even the former home of writer Jack London.
Lower Piedmont, Walk #2 Aug 4, 2012 (my birthday!)
This easy 1 mile walk had only 152 steps and winded around lower Piedmont. We started and ended at lovely Dracena Park.
East Bay Secret Stairs, Our first walk
We bought this book: http://blog.ouroakland.net/2011/07/books-secret-stairs-east-bay.html
and have embarked on a series of walks through the East Bay (just Oakland and Berkeley really) along urban trails that follow "secret stairs." Our first walk, pictured here, was in Montclair off Thornhill Drive. The walk took us through 1.2 miles of wooded hills and had 637 steps! Marcello did great, and the dog was super excited to be out with the whole family.
